How do I get started with going to college and getting my CCAF?
1. View your "My CCAF Progress Report" under 'Self-Service Options' on AFVEC.
2. Stop by customer service (0900-1500 daily) for assistance in identifying what remains to complete and using tools about exams/classes.
3. If you have no civilian college, start with attending the College Basics counseling session. See Schedule. Generally recommend attendance 2-4 weeks before classes begin.


What are ideal transfer classes?
CCAF Course Conversion link on AFVEC shows all ccaf-evaluated courses and how they apply. If you took courses which are not listed and believe they may apply, contact counselor and request evaluation of those courses.
Typical transfer general education courses include:
English Composition, College Composition, Freshman English
Intro to Speech, Principles of Public Speaking
College Algebra
Intro to Psychology, Sociology, US History, Economics
Intro to Humanities, Literature, Philosophy, Foreign Language


How do I get missing college courses added to my CCAF Progress Report?
Have official transcripts sent directly to:
CCAF/DESS
100 South Turner Blvd
Maxwell-Gunter AFB AL 36114-3011
DO NOT send official transcripts to yourself or Fairchild Education office. Order transcript once last course is completed from that school. See transcripts-frequent requests for common ones. Online transcripts are preferred to mailing them. Allow 3-5 weeks for viewing on progress report. Once loaded and/or applied, contact counselor for any questions. Any courses not yet evaluated by CCAF will not be applied. AFVEC Tuition Assistance enrollments/grades are not transcripts.


How do I know which CLEP, DANTES or Excelsior tests to take?
See the 'Exam Matrix' link behind "Program Title" on your CCAF Progress Report for complete listing and how they apply. OR... ccaf made easy brochure shows a list for all AFSCs. Testing provides online preparation sources. 90% of airmen need to prepare! These exams may not transfer toward follow-on goals; verify with school.


How do my CLEP & DANTES exams get added?
The instant score report you receive takes 2-4 weeks to auto-upload and view on your CCAF Progress Report. A maximum 30 testing credits can be applied. ublic Speakingrequires 6-8 weeks. Contact rosanne.pruitt@fairchild.af.mil if this does not happen and save your score reports! The y Test Scoreslink on AFVEC is not tied to CCAF, nor is it reliable for tracking.


How do I get missing Air Force courses added?
AF military courses completed more than 45 days ago need to be manually updated. Either provide copy of AF certificate to customer servie or email title/crs#/award date/location to counselor. "NON-AIR FORCE" AFSC-related training courses are transcripted by agency/organization/company to be sent directly to: CCAF/DESS, 100 South Turner Blvd, Maxwell-Gunter AFB AL 36114-3011. See transcripts-frequent requests for common ones.


Can I receive humanities credit for DLPT?
CCAF has revised the credit application policy for foreign language credit earned through the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT). Effective 1 October 2008, credit awarded for these examinations will satisfy the CCAF general education humanities requirement. The Civilian Course Conversion Table (CIVCCT) has been updated to reflect this change. Please keep in mind that the DLPT is an examination and that a maximum of 30 semester hours of examination credit may be applied toward a CCAF degree program. This change applies ONLY to current and future students enrolled in CCAF degree programs. Unlike CLEP/DANTES, transcripts must be requested and sent directly to CCAF (see above address).


When are the CCAF deadlines?
All degree-completion transcripts must be received at CCAF not later than:
last week of February each year for receiving diplomas in early April
late week of August each year for receiving diplomas in early October


Does CCAF degree transfer?
CCAF applied science degrees are usually not 100% transferable. However, most institutions accept military credits as electives and some accept CLEP/DANTES per school policy. Check out the new AU-ABC program for online 100% transferable programs in the 'Category I' options. Courses like College English, Public Speaking, College Algebra, Sociology, US History, American Literature almost always transfer. Students often make up shortfalls by taking more general education courses and core classes toward the desired major. It is helpful to consider long-term goals when deciding how to best complete CCAF so maximum credit transfers and counts toward multiple degrees!

How does CCAF degree apply after my military service?
CCAF technical degrees diversify your lifetime resume, regardless of career changes in the future. Completing CCAF and using the same credits toward your bachelor degree gives you uniquely different degrees for the price of one! Careful planning under advisement can support requirements for both. Veterans surveyed routinely view CCAF as beneficial to them. Today's job force draws upon a variety of skills and backgrounds. Capitalize on your military background!

Does ALS satisfy speech requirement?
Airmen Leadership School does not meet the speech requirement. The Southern Association of Colleges/Schools regional accrediting body does not allow military courses to crossover toward general education requirements. Therefore, ALS graduates often prepare/take DANTES Public Speaking exam in lieu of taking a speech course. However, speech courses are almost always transferable whereas DANTES Public Speaking may not be.


May I get more than one CCAF degree?
You may complete a CCAF degree for every career field in which you have or will have a minimum 5-skill level. Once your current degree is awarded, request enrollment into subsequent degree.


Do nationally accredited courses apply toward CCAF?
AFSC-related courses frequently do. General education courses must be evaluated based upon the credentials of instructor. Consequently, courses from nationally accredited schools are not preloaded into the CCAF Course Conversion link on AFVEC. Supplemental documentation must be provided as required by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools regional accreditation body. How do I meet CCAF residency requirements if I attended a non-AF tech school and am not yet eligible to attend ALS?
Enroll in the AF "Intro to Culture" online course.
