Spouses and Civilians
spouses and civilians
What education resources are available to spouses, family members and civilians?
Family members and civilian employees are encouraged to schedule a counseling appointment to discuss education and career goals. Completing substantial programs with one institution can be difficult. There are frequent PCS moves among other unique challenges. You may need help with identifying schools and programs which offer greater flexibility, support and financial assistance.
For example:
Did you know there are associate degree programs that can be done almost entirely through the CLEP and DANTES college credit testing programs?
Did you know there are schools that are generous in accepting transfer credit?
Did you know there are very cost-effective options?
Did you know there are options you can complete at home?
Did you know that most degrees require courses like College English, Public Speaking, History, Psychology, Humanities and College Algebra, regardless of your chosen major?
Did you know setting a significant goal early on is rarely necessary?
Did you know our five on-base colleges welcome you to consider their programs?
Did you know there are tools and resources to help you identify your skills, values, personality type and interests in a way that correlates with choosing a degree?
Do you understand the role of accreditation in your choices?
These and other questions can be answered in a counseling appointment.
