GUIDELINES ON HOW TO APPLY FOR
NONAPPROPRIATED FUND (NAF) EMPLOYMENT

General Information: You can apply for any position on the open continuous recruitment job listing. Although a position on the job list may not be vacant at this moment, you can still submit your application for future consideration. Our office maintains your application(s) on file for 90-days and refers it to the selecting supervisor when a vacancy is available. If you are not selected for a position within the 90-days, you may request a onetime only 90-days extension. An extension can be accomplished by calling our office at the end of the 90-days to make a request. At the end of the extension period your application will be inactivated and you must reapply.

How to Apply: Complete Optional Form 612, “Optional Application for Federal Employment” and Optional Form 306, “Declaration for Federal Employment.” If you wish to apply for more than one position, please complete a separate Optional Form 612 and Optional Form 306 for each position. Specifically describe your work background and related experience. Resumes may be attached to the Optional Form 612. If you are applying for the Child and Youth Program Assistant you will also need to complete the Child and Youth Application Supplement. A copy of your high school diploma or equivalent is required at the time your application is submitted. If you are interested in applying for both Centers, then you must submit two separate applications. All forms can be found on our website, www.75thforcesupport.com/hro/index.html as well as at the West and South Gate Visitor Centers.

Military Spouse Preference can be claimed 30 days prior to the ‘Report No Later Than’ date found on the orders. You must also have more than 6 months remaining at this duty station to qualify.

Transition Hiring (THP): If you and/or any of your dependents are claiming Transition Hiring Preference (THP), you must submit a copy of the DD-214 (Member Copy 4) identifying you as a “TAMP Eligible.” A copy of both sides of the “TA” stamped identification card is also required.

Veterans (VP): If claiming prior military service and seeking Veterans Preference (VP) for employment, you will be required to provide Member Copy 4 of your DD 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Veterans Preference will not be awarded unless a copy of the DD-214 (Member Copy 4) is provided. The National Personnel Records Center has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214 online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov/.
**The documents required to verify MSP, VP and THP must be attached to each application to receive the priority consideration.
